Warranty

Our Promise

Born Primitive clothing is backed for its lifetime, and footwear for 12 months, against defects in materials and workmanship. We build gear to be trained in, worked in, and lived in. If something fails because we got it wrong, we will make it right.

This warranty applies to all Born Primitive products purchased in the United States from bornprimitive.com or an authorized U.S. retailer, and it falls into three tiers:

Tier Products Coverage
Clothing and gear Tops, bottoms, outerwear, hats, socks, bags, and all other apparel Lifetime of the product, manufacturer defects
Footwear All shoes and boots 12 months from purchase, manufacturer defects
Accessories and consumables Flags, stickers, patches, knee pads, laces, insoles, and similar items Not covered

What "Lifetime" Means

Lifetime means the usable lifespan of the product, not the lifespan of the owner. Every garment and every pair of shoes has a natural lifespan that depends on how often and how hard it is used. A pair of shoes worn every day will wear out sooner than a pair saved for training sessions, and that is expected.

Our warranty covers failures that happen before a product reaches the end of its normal life because of a flaw in how it was made. Once a product is worn out, a failure is the result of that wear, not a defect.

For example, if the seam on a pair of pants splits after a few months because of a defect in manufacturing and production, it is covered. If the same seam gives out after years of regular use because the fabric around it has worn thin, that is the product reaching the end of its life and it is not covered. The failure point is the same, but the two have very different causes. Our warranty covers manufacturer defects that occur in the production process, and every warranty claim is evaluated to determine whether the failure is a defect or wear.

Think of it like a set of tires. Tires come with a warranty against defects, but that warranty does not cover tread worn down over thousands of miles, a sidewall torn open while rock crawling, or rubber left behind on a burnout. Our gear works the same way. We stand 100% behind every product we make and every customer who wears it. If we built it wrong, we will make it right.

Our team makes the final determination on every claim based on photos and, when needed, inspection of the product.

What's Covered

We cover defects that occur in the manufacturing and production of our products. Some examples could include defects in:

  • Stitching and seams, including bonded and welded seams
  • Zippers
  • Pockets
  • Snaps, buttons, drawcords, hook and loop (Velcro), and other hardware
  • Fabric, including abnormal fabric deterioration
  • Footwear construction, within 12 months of purchase

If you are not sure whether your issue is covered, reach out anyway. We would rather take a look than have you guess.

What's Not Covered

Our warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage, or the natural aging of materials. Examples include:

  • Cuts, rips, tears, or punctures from sharp objects, snags, or abrasion
  • Damage from pets, fire, heat, chemicals, or improper washing and drying
  • The natural loss of waterproofing or water repellency over time
  • The natural loss of elasticity or stretch in waistbands, cuffs, and stretch fabrics over time
  • Normal wear of shoe soles and treads, and wear of consumable parts such as laces and insoles
  • Concentrated wear on specific areas of a shoe from repeated kneeling, dragging, jumping, or similar repetitive use
  • Normal pilling caused by friction during use, whether in the gym, in the field, or on the range
  • Fading or color change from washing, sun exposure, or use
  • Seams or fabric that fail because the surrounding material has worn out
  • Fit, sizing, or comfort preferences (see our Return and Exchange Policy)
  • Products that have been altered, modified, or repaired
  • Products used outside their intended purpose
  • Products purchased secondhand, from unauthorized sellers, or outside the United States
  • Products purchased through resale or discount platforms such as eBay or Whatnot, including items sold by Born Primitive on those platforms

Accessories and Consumables

Accessories such as flags, stickers, and similar items are not covered under this warranty.

Consumables are parts designed to wear out and be replaced through normal use, and they are not covered under this warranty. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Laces
  • Insoles
  • Knee pads
  • Patches designed to attach and detach with hook and loop

If an accessory or consumable arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we will take care of it.

Life Happens

We know how our gear gets used. A knife slips while you are processing an elk, a fence catches your sleeve on a ruck, or the dog finally gets to your new shoes. That is not a defect, so it is not covered under warranty, but we still want to help.

If your Born Primitive gear is damaged by an accident, email us with a photo and a quick story of what happened. We will send you a one-time discount on a replacement of the same item.

This offer is limited to one discount per damaged item and is subject to product availability.

How to File a Claim

  1. Email contact@bornprimitive.com with the subject line "Warranty Claim."
  2. Include your order number or proof of purchase.
  3. Include clear photos of the full product, the defect up close, and the size and care label.
  4. Give a short description of the issue and how long you have been using the product.

Our team will review your claim and respond within 10 business days. In some cases we may ask you to send the product back for inspection.

If your claim is approved, we will replace the product with the same item. If that item is no longer available, we will replace it with a product of equal value or issue store credit for the original purchase price. We do not repair products ourselves or pay for products to be repaired by third parties.

The Fine Print

  • This warranty covers the original purchaser only and is nontransferable. Valid proof of purchase from bornprimitive.com or an authorized U.S. retailer is required. Items purchased through secondhand sources such as eBay, or discount platforms such as Whatnot, carry no warranty.
  • This warranty applies only to purchases made in the United States. Purchases made in other regions are covered by that region's warranty.
  • Replacement or store credit is the sole remedy under this warranty. Born Primitive does not repair products or pay for third party repairs, and this warranty does not provide cash refunds outside our standard Return and Exchange Policy.
  • A replacement product or store credit does not start a new warranty term. A replacement product is covered for the remainder of the original product's warranty.
  • Following the care instructions on each product's label helps it reach its full life. Damage from improper care is not covered.
  • Born Primitive reserves the right to make the final determination on all claims.
  • This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state. Nothing in this warranty limits rights you have under applicable law.
